Presentations .... time to show and share

PictureFlickr - Last Piece of the Puzzle
Take time to examine and think about putting the whole story together. It's not each isolated element (image, audio, text, video) used to construct the story, it's the pacing, transitions, and sequencing that makes a good story great. Editing and replaying the story for purpose and audience is an essential step. Deconstructing stories with a critical eye to each of these elements will help you and your students see how effective stories are 'put together'. Let's do one together. Watch the video to the right and make notes about what you see, hear and feel in the sequence, pacing, transitions, and effective use of each element (text, image, audio or video).

Putting together - where and how?

Working collaboratively within a Google Presentation document, students can create together a single presentation as part of the We DO IT together part of the process. Let's try to DO IT together here.

The Digital Storytelling Cookbook, by Joe Lambert, is a valuable resource when working through the process and presentation of digital stories.

Creating a collaborative presentation on a topic is a good way to experience the process of putting something together - each student was given one page in the google presentation to respond to their investigation on Joe Lambert's Digital Storytelling Cookbook. Ownership and authorship is done with initials or some other identifier rather than full names. Link HERE to view the presentation where 'we did IT together' to practice this skill.
